Rule #2: Hold your ground!
I thought commuting by public transportation would be straightforward:
Hop on, zone out, hop off.
But after a month of riding buses and trains daily, I learned that the unspoken rules are what really matter.
I found myself decoding an entirely new culture, one with its own way of life.
Running list
By the end of week one, I had a running list.
Rule #1: Let people off first. Trains and buses move smoother when you wait a few seconds before stepping in.
Rule #2: Hold your ground. If you hesitate, someone else will take your place. Confidence counts.
Rule #3: Always have backup payment. That one broken card reader will catch you at the worst possible moment.
Rule #4: Respect the headphone. If they’re in, conversation is out. 😂
Rule #5: Don’t block the doors. You’re not the only one rushing somewhere. If you get in the way, all you’ll get is a shove!
